Antique Fishel, Nessler & Co. Fringe Tassel Necklace Gilt Brass Foxtail Chain

Antique Fishel, Nessler & Co. fringe tassel necklace. This gilt brass multi-strand necklace is constructed of long strips of foxtail chain. The chains fluidly drape the neckline and gather to a round focal centerpiece with an ornate filigree scroll design. This openwork style design is carried through to the decorative box clasp closure. Signed with “F.N. Co.” hallmark on back of clasp. 17.5” length with 2.6” pendant drop. Great vintage condition with significant darkening of gold tone throughout, but this wear is appropriate for gilt brass / Russian gold tone of this age.

History: Fishel, Nessler & Co. was founded by Henry W. Fishel and Samuel C. Nessler around 1885 in New York City. By 1910, the company was located at Broadway and Crosby in New York. Most resources indicate that the company went out of business in the mid-1930s. The firm’s jewelry is rare and highly collectible.
