Sculptural, high quality specimen of glassy ruby jack sphalerite on a druzy dolestone and quartz matrix from the famous Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Tennessee, USA. The fully natural, fine mineral display piece features a large cluster of radiating, lustrous, terminated sphalerite crystals in an aesthetic star shaped spray. The prismatic raw gem has well-defined, sharp edges, glossy surfaces. The sphalerite is semi-translucent, passing light at the edges to show off a vibrant red and gold glow! This unique, vivid deep red is where the “ruby jack” name originates for this form of sphalerite. The focal cluster is perched on a matrix of glistening silver dolestone and microcrystalline quartz druze. Throughout the specimen are several additional clustered and isolated sphalerite crystals. A gorgeous, cabinet sized American display piece that measures approx 6 by 5 by 5cm and weighs 108 grams. Includes the ID / locale info label.
