An important element is the XMOS chip for processing digital audio input. The hip-dac3 is equipped with a 16-core XMOS microcontroller. Programmed by the iFi development team to optimize sound quality, it achieves a perfect high-resolution partnership with the Burr-Brown DAC.

Adjust to your headphones and earphones
The amplifier stage has a gain switching function called Powermatch. This adjusts the output power to match the load of the headphones by adjusting the input sensitivity and output level.
A switch on the bottom switches iFi's unique technology, iEMatch, optimizing the output for high-sensitivity headphones, especially in-ear monitors (IEMs). It reduces hiss, enhances detail and dynamic range, and improves the volume control range.
XBass is another user-selectable feature, a sophisticated low-frequency boost that enhances the bass without muddying the mid-range, especially effective for earphones and open-back headphones that lack deep bass. This feature operates entirely in the analog domain, rather than manipulating the digital signal via DSP.
