This is an Authentic Hand Woven Ikat from Indonesia. The size is approx 57"x52"

This is one tubular piece which women would weave then wear as a dress. It now has loops at the top so that you can hang it as a tapestry or unstitch it and it would make a great bed runner although the side that faced out is several shades lighter than the back side. But split it in two and it would get twice the use.

Ikat, or ikkat, is a style of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie-dye on either the warp or weft are tie-dye before the threads are woven to create a pattern or design. A double ikat is when both the warp and the weft are tie-dyed before weaving. The spectacular and very famous ikat of Sumba is made of cotton hand spun, traditionally dyed with local plants (Kombu - indigo) and minerals. Thread is spun from July to October, then bound for patterns until December. After the rainy season, they collect indigo plants and kombu tree leaves for dying. In summer, after harvest,
